Local Beaches

Dana Point Harbor

The Dana Point Harbor offers specialty shopping, fishing and whale watching excursions, kayaking, Catalina transportation, and a variety of restaurants from coffee shops to fine waterfront dining. Across the bridge to Dana Island, more walking paths lead to yacht clubs, a restaurant and a continuation of the quiet waterside parkways.

Doheny State Beach

This 62-acre park has 120 developed campsites, some only steps from the beach. Many campsites are within walking distance of picturesque Dana Point Harbor and only 4 miles from San Juan Capistrano Mission. Doheny State Beach is two parks in one - with camping in the southern area (with some campsites only steps away from the beach) and day use in the northern area, where there is a five-acre lawn with picnic facilities and volleyball courts. Surfing is popular, but is restricted to the north end of the beach. Surf fishing is also popular.

Salt Creek Beach

Salt Creek Beach is a popular surfing location. A small, offshore reef creates some of the best left swells along the entire coastline. Swimming, body surfing, sunbathing and tidepool exploration are other beach activities.

Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is a seaside resort and artist community located a few miles away. It is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in southern California. The city has good hotels, unique shops and restaurants, world famous art galleries and art festivals.
